Circuit City, the US electronics superstore chain, is buying Canadian retailer InterTAN's for $284m cash. The Register: Circuit City buys InterTAN

This is likely in response to Best Buy's purchase of Future Shop last year (year before?). Independent computer stores are still the cheapest place to buy stuff, but I usually go to Future Shop to actually touch/feel products.
